not QUIET BAR

ERSTE KLASSE

Concept

The idea of not QUIET BAR is based on reconstructing the atmosphere of elite first-class travel during the kkStB era (Austrian railways 1884–1918) in the 1900s. The visual code is drawn from the dining cars of the international route Vienna — Lviv — Chernivtsi, integrated into the industrial context of the historic Lviv tram depot.

Connection to Location

The concept merges the austere aesthetics of the industrial revolutionary era depot with the aristocratic utilitarianism of the Austrian railway system of the 1900s. The bar becomes a metaphorical stop, where industrial past transforms into a premium cultural experience of the "first-class" passenger.

Key Elements

The central accent is the authentic green color of kkStB railway cars — the official standard of Austrian passenger coaches. Its depth is emphasized by noble marble and polished brass detailing in every element.

Rounded edges of the bar counter add elegance and softness to the forms characteristic of the refined Secession style of the era.

Large chandeliers crafted from contemporary textured glass evoke the impression of a crystal candelabra, bathing the space in soft amber light.

Suspended awnings add coziness and comfort, evoking the similarity to the gray-beige ceiling panels of first-class railway coaches.

Station names along the route (Wien, Kraków, Przemyśl, Lemberg, Stanisławów, Kołomyja, Czernowitz) and the "ERSTE CLASSE" plaque, rendered in classical typeface, represent the major stops of the international kkStB route that operated from Vienna to Lviv and Chernivtsi during the Austrian period of Galicia.
